Ignite Joy and Goodness This Christmas
It is Christmas again! Some people miss all the joy in this season, as they might be fatigued, overwhelmed, overworked, or …. just over everything.
I am not discrediting any of these experiences, but I want to remind you, that in my experience, there is always light at the end of the tunnel of difficulty.
Know that while we are still breathing, there is hope!
I know you can be the spreader of good news, fun, laughter, joy, and happiness.
What will the people in your life catch from you this Christmas season?
Grief & Laughter Can Coexist
You might be glad, or you might be sad, but it’s interesting how grief and laughter can often live side-by-side. One random act of kindness can lift your spirits and even make you smile.
Bring Goodwill Wherever You Go
We are in a season of peace on Earth and goodwill towards all people. Maybe try something as simple as taking a box of chocolates to the neighbours that you have had very little to do with.
You can also intentionally bring some humour into each gathering in your workplace. Maybe start singing or whistling some of your favourite Christmas carols or simply a song that you know other people can sing along with.
Make A Joyful, Beautiful Noise
I just listened to a huge crowd sing Sweet Caroline at the top of their voices! They were joyous, jubilant, and celebratory because the famous Neil Diamond led them in a chorus of an old familiar song.
If you can’t sing, whistle. If you can’t whistle, hum, but make a joyous noise and let people know that you are fully present.
Remember The Reason for the Season
Participate in the celebration of God coming to earth as a baby. Yeah, that’s what I call humility! He could’ve come as a king riding on the clouds, but instead, he came as one of us.
Engage and Celebrate with Interest
We rarely regret sharing what we have, but we often regret that we did nothing when we could have. Be intentionally generous! It’s not what we give; it’s the attitude with which we give that is so contagious.
Relish conversations at family gatherings and show real interest in each person you engage with. Have a few questions up your sleeve to get the conversation started.
It’s always nice to ask people what has been the best thing for them in the past year. You can ask questions to help people reflect on the good in their lives.
Let’s celebrate with love for one another. What the world needs right now is a little more love.
Merry Christmas with love from me!
